Gagosian Paris présente Ramble Drawings de Richard Serra. Après la première exposition de cette série à Gagosian New York en septembre 2015, la galerie de la rue de Ponthieu exposera un tout nouvel ensemble d’œuvres.
Richard Serra est né à San Francisco en 1938 et vit à New York depuis 1966. Il a étudié à l’Université de Californie (Berkeley et Santa Barbara) et à Yale. En juin 2015 le gouvernement français lui a décerné les insignes de Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.

Parmi ses expositions récentes on peut citer: « Richard Serra Sculpture: Forty Years, » Museum of Modern Art, New York (2007); « Richard Serra: Promenade, » Monumenta, Grand Palais, Paris (2008); « Richard Serra Drawings—Work Comes Out of Work, » Kunsthaus Bregenz (2008); et « Richard Serra Drawing: A Retrospective, » Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2011, puis au San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; et à la Menil Collection, Houston, organisatrice de l’exposition).
En 2005, The Matter of Time (1994–2005), une série de huit sculptures monumentales, a été installée au Musée Guggenheim à Bilbao. East-West/West-East (2014) a été installée de manière permanente dans le désert de la réserve naturelle de Brouq dans l’ouest du Qatar en 2014.
